The Specifics

 

The system generally starts with an Angus cow bred to a Tarertaise bull to get a half-blood heifer.  That heifer can then be bred to either breed to produce a 3/4 Angus or 3/4 Tarentaise.  The opposite sire is then used to produce a 5/8’s which, at that point, we roll back to the opposite breed.  The two breeds together keep the moderate size and marbling that Angus offers, but without the fat.  It’s a cross that cattlemen have found produce the heifers & steers they’ve been looking for.
